Absolutely. Rude Awakening uses AlarmKit on iOS 26+ for system-level alarms that fire through Silent Mode and Focus modes. On iOS 17–25, we use time-sensitive notifications with escalating volume. The comedy characters are funny, but they are LOUD.

The alarm continues until you dismiss it. Each escalation stage increases in volume and intensity. If you have dismissal missions enabled (math problems, shake, barcode scan), you have to complete the challenge to stop it. Good luck sleeping through a drill sergeant questioning your life choices at max volume.

You choose. Set a fade-out timer (30, 60, or 90 minutes) or select "Play All Night" to keep sounds running until your alarm goes off. The app transitions smoothly from sleep sounds to your alarm character.

Never. Calendar data is read locally on your device using Apple's EventKit framework. It is never sent to any server. The app only reads your events — it cannot modify or delete them. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

A lot. The free tier includes 5 sleep sounds, 2 alarm characters (Drill Sergeant and Farm Wake-Up) with Stage 1 escalation, full calendar intelligence with smart alarm suggestions, complete gamification (streaks, ranks, credits, monthly stats card), and weather briefings. Premium unlocks more characters, all escalation stages, sound mixing, and additional content.

You earn credits by waking up on time (5/day), completing dismissal missions (10/day), hitting streak milestones (50–200 bonus), ranking up (100 bonus), and sharing stats. Spend credits to permanently unlock characters (200), sleep sounds (100), or seasonal packs (300). Active free users earn ~300 credits/month.

Not in the current version. We focus on our professionally voiced character experiences to ensure quality. Custom alarm tone slots are on the roadmap and will be unlockable via credits.

Not yet. We're launching on iOS first to ensure the best possible alarm reliability using Apple's AlarmKit framework. Android is planned once we validate the concept. Audio content is designed to be shared across platforms.

Subscriptions are managed through Apple. Go to Settings > Your Name > Subscriptions on your iPhone, find Rude Awakening, and tap Cancel. Any content unlocked with credits remains yours permanently.

Launch characters are professionally recorded with voice actors. Expansion packs use AI voice generation with custom profiles, allowing us to ship new characters frequently. All voices are designed to be hilariously obnoxious at 6 AM.
